Alberta rules checked before launch
National rules apply first: CASL for commercial messages, PIPEDA for cross-border data flows, and the Competition Act on drip pricing and environmental claims. Alberta has its own Personal Information Protection Act for private-sector organizations, and the province opened a public review of it in early 2026, so privacy wording is checked again each year. The Alberta Consumer Protection Act, administered by Service Alberta, restricts unfair practices in consumer sales and advertising. The Real Estate Council of Alberta expects licensees to show their brokerage name clearly in every advertisement, including websites and social posts. Professional regulators, such as the Law Society of Alberta, also set advertising standards. We map the relevant ones during onboarding and write them into ad copy and forms.
